NY Champions Cup

(New York, NY) July 2022 – EDP and the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League (CJSL) has announced plans for the 2023 NY Champions Cup, to be held on June 24th and 25th, hosted once again at the World Class Soccer Complex.

The NY Champions Cup, now in its 3rd year, is a collaboration between CJSL, EDP North Atlantic & EDP CT.

This past June over 55 teams participated in the NY Champions Cup. Due to the success of the event, the NY Champions Cup is expanding eligibility for the Spring 2023 Season.

The NY Champions Cup will feature regular season league champions from CJSL D1 & D2, EDP North Atlantic D1, D2 & D3 teams, & EDP Connecticut.

The NY Champions Cup will include gold, silver and bronze brackets for various boy’s teams ages 10U through 17U, and gold brackets for girl’s teams ages 10U through 17U. Depending on the number of teams participating per bracket, there will be semifinals plus a final or only a final.

In the event of a first place tie for teams in the EDP North Atlantic eligible divisions (see above), the listed tiebreakers will apply.

Playoff Tiebreakers for Qualification Purposes: Should EDP hold a league ending event (ex: NY Champions Cup), determination of teams’ final placement, in the event of a tie, will be decided by the following tiebreakers in order listed.

    1. Head to Head (Does not apply if three (3) or more teams are tied.)
    2. Goal Differential: maximum of 5 goals per game
    3. Fewest Goals Allowed: maximum of 5 goals per game
    4. Number of Shutouts
    5. If two teams are tied after all of the tiebreakers above, a coin toss will determine which team is designated in the higher placement.

Qualification: Any team that forfeits a match during the spring 2023 season or does not complete their full spring schedule by June 11, 2023, will not qualify for the Champions Cup. If a team completes its season with one (1) or more of its games un-played, EDP will have the authority at its sole discretion to review all inter-team correspondence showing the intent to schedule and determine whether any un-played games should be forfeited or canceled permanently.
